F2 Logistics blanked defending champion Petro Gazz, 25-16, 25-22, 27-25, to finish at fifth place but missed the semis in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.
Kalei Mau unleashed five of the F2 Logistics' last six points to finish with 20 points on top of eight digs as the Cargo Movers snapped a two-game slide and finished the conference with a 4-4 slate.
Lindsay Stalzer, likewise, came through with 20 markers laced with seven excellent digs and six excellent receptions, while Dawn Macandili logged 13 digs.
"We're already out but like I said before, a win is a win, and we will carry this over to the next conference," said F2 Logistics head coach Benson Bocboc.
"We were going for the championship and what you guys saw there (in the game) was a championship level game for us."
Determined to end the conference with a triumph, the Cargo Movers erased a 9-14 deficit in the third set to eventually set up a nip-and-tuck battle that led to 25-25 deadlock.
That was when Mau came up with back-to-back kills to finish off Petro Gazz.
MJ Phillips and American reinforcement Lindsey Vander Weide uncorked 11 points each for the Angels, who finished the eliminations as the third seed with a 5-3 win-loss card with 15 points.
Cignal, which also has a 5-3 record but with only 14 points, will enter the semis as the number four seed.
