The way Bay Area has been smashing its opponent in the 2022-23 PBA Commissioner's Cup, the foreign guest team looks poised at dominating the playoffs.
But as far as San Miguel Beer assistant coach Jorge Gallent is concerned, the Beermen, now at full strength, have the capacity to match up with the Dragons.
"Size-wise we're kind of okay with them (Dragons)," said Gallent. "We have guys who can matchup with them because we have talented and big guys also."
Superstar center June Mar Fajardo and Terrence Romeo are back in harness, having recovered from separate injuries recently.
Fajardo, the league's only six-time MVP, underwent throat surgery in early October, but has since played in the tailend of the eliminations.
On the other hand, Romeo played his first game this conference in the team's last game for the eliminations versus Meralco, and has played a key role off the bench in SMB's two-game sweep of Converge last Saturday.
Both stars were not around when San Miguel suffered an embarrassing 113-87 demolition at the hands of Bay Area in their only meeting this conference.
Gallent is confident that regardless of who coach Brian Goorjian chooses as his import—whether that's Myles Powell or Andrew Nicholson when their semis series begins this Wednesday, the Beermen will be ready.
"When we played them, it was Nicholson (who served) as their import," explained Gallent. "We can watch video to see what went wrong and what to improve in our series."
The Dragons reached the semis with relative ease after blasting the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters to smithereens, 126-96 on Friday, behind Hayden Blankley's 47 points, spiked by 10 triples
