The Creamline Cool Smashers took down the Petro Gazz Angels in straight sets, 25-18, 25-20, 25-22, to open their title defense bid in the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Michele Gumabao and Ced Domingo both tallied 13 points to lead the Cool Smashers' offense, with Tots Carlos and Jeanette Panaga adding 11 and 10 points each.
Aiza Pontillas and Nicole Tiamzon listed 10 points each in Petro Gazz' first loss under new head coach Oliver Almadro.
Both teams will be back in action on Thursday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre when Creamline takes on the Cignal HD Spikers while Petro Gazz will face Choco Mucho.
Meanwhile, PVL action will be back on Tuesday at the Philsports Arena when PLDT High Speed Hitters take on F2 Logistics while the Chery Tiggo Crossovers will play the Cignal HD Spikers.
