F2 Logistics leaned on its veteran poise against newcomer Farm Fresh with a tight 25-22, 25-20, 25-23 win in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Tuesday, June 27.
The Cargo Movers shrugged off the unfamiliarity over the debuting Foxies and practically dictated the match to secure their first win in Pool B in the mid-year conference.
Ivy Lacsina delivered 13 points off 12 attacks and one block as a wing spiker, while Aby Maraño scattered her 10 points with five attacks, three blocks and two aces.
F2 Logistics led throughout the game and not once faltered against the promising force of Farm Fresh in the College of St. Benilde core and former Adamson standouts Kate Santiago and Trisha Tubu.
Tied at 19-all in the third set after Santiago’s through-the-block hit, Lacsina and Baron were quick to pick the Cargo Movers back up with back-to-back points, 21-19.
Tubu then kept the Foxies afloat with her own off-the-block point, but Zamantha Nolasco committed a costly attack error that set them back and gave the Cargo Movers a two-point lead anew.
Gayle Pascual then pulled Farm Fresh within one after drilling in a crosscourt attack before Maraño turned her back at the net in her second attempt, 23-21.
Pascual continued her onslaught for Farm Fresh before Nolasco fired an ace that put the match at deadlock of 23-all.
F2 Logistics, however, came to its senses before Farm Fresh could stage a complete comeback as Jolina dela Cruz iced the game in the service area.
NCAA Season 97 Finals MVP Pascual was the lone double-digit scorer for the Foxies with 10 points built on seven attacks and three blocks.
Meanwhile, the Foxies absorbed their first loss in their debut.
