PH spikers fall to host Thailand in SEA V-League 2nd leg opener

The veteran Thais wasted no time and zoomed to a commanding two-set lead before encountering a slight resistance from the Filipinas side in the early moments of the closing set.

After trailing for most of the first two sets, the Nationals held a brief 8-7 lead in the third set but the Thais were quick to get back on their feet with a 4-0 run.

The Philippines managed to pull itself within three, 19-16, but Thailand flexed its might anew and unleashed a 6-2 finishing kick.

National University (NU) spiker Alyssa Solomon stepped up for the Filipinas while Bella Belen had a limited offensive production.

During the tournament's Vietnam leg last Aug. 6, the Lady Bulldogs duo combined for 31 points in the losing cause against Indonesia.

The Philippines returns to action against Vietnam on Saturday, Aug. 12 at 1 p.m. (Manila time) for its first win in the regional tiff.
