A rejigged Petro Gazz just got a familiar boost as veteran middle blocker MJ Phillips is set for a homecoming and will rejoin the Angels starting in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Phillips will come back to her home team following a stint in the Korean Volleyball League, where she suited up for the Gwangju Al Peppers to become the first Filipina drafted in the Asian Quota Draft.
Phillips' return will give the Angels a massive bolster as she is set to join forces with Filipino-American Broke Van Sickle and returning Myla Pablo as well as mainstays Remy Palma and Jonah Sabete.
Petro Gazz, which swept Cignal to rule the 2024 PNVF Champions League, will also parade a new head coach in Japanese Koji Tsuzurabara.
With Petro Gazz, the 28-year-old Phillips emerged as one of the respected middle blockers, taking home the Best Middle Blocker awards in the 2022 Reinforced and 2023 First All-Filipino Conference.
