Jaja Santiago to train with Japan national volleyball team

After a spectacular showing in the Japan V.League, Jaja Santiago was called to train with the Japanese women's volleyball team, the Japan Volleyball Association announced on their website on Friday.

The former National University (NU) standout will be joined by Melissa Valdes of the PFU Blue Cats as trainees in the pool.

JT Marvelous recently grabbed the silver medal in the Japan V.League after falling to NEC Red Rockets in the finals last Sunday, 25-27, 30-32, 25-16, 17-25.

Santiago's husband and Nxled head coach Taka Minowa said on X (formerly Twitter) that she hasn't been naturalized yet for the foreign country, but it was a "really big step for her dream."

"She'll join the Japan national team training camp, She hasn’t get naturalization yet but this opportunity really big step for her dream. Welcome to Japan national team," Minowa said.

The 6-foot-4 middle blocker initially joined the Ageo Medics before transferring to JT Marvelous.
