FOR both Barangay Ginebra and San Miguel Beer, it will be a quick turnaround from their previous outing as they clash a second time in the PBA Governors' Cup eliminations Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, disputing solo lead in Group B play.
Both play a second game in three nights, with Ginebra trumping erstwhile leader Rain or Shine, 124-102, and San Miguel spilling Phoenix, 139-127, Friday also at the Big Dome.
But even with not much time to prepare, the two teams are expected to figure in a high level of competition as they fight for an outright playoff berth in their 7:30 p.m. tiff.
The Gin Kings and the Beermen caught up with the Elasto Painters at 5-2 following their respective victories Friday.
But Justin Brownlee and his teammates are the hottest team in the group right now, having gone unbeaten since their 67-73 loss to the Elasto Painters in their initial faceoff in a road showdown in Candon, Ilocos Sur.
Coach Tim Cone's crew started their hot run with a 108-102 decision over the Beermen, anchored by a 51-point sizzler from Brownlee on Aug. 27.
The Beermen, meanwhile, have since recovered, going on a three-game streak marked by the team's one-game gamble on import replacement prospect Sheldon Mac.
They brought back Jordan Adams the last time to their delight, with their original import leading them to their 12-point disposal of the Fuel Masters.
"What's nice about Jordan is he was professional enough to stay with us and play with us again. I'm very happy Jordan stayed and I'm very happy for his game now. It speaks that he is really a great import," Gallent said.
Adams returned with a bang, firing 49 points and hauling down 11 rebounds.
"I just had to stay ready. They told me to stay ready, you never know what can happen. That's my job as a professional. Stay in the gym and be ready for my name can be called," said Adams.
Next assignment for Adams and the Beermen is a revenge drive versus Brownlee and the Kings.
