Reigning champion National U and former titlist La Salle want no less than a trilogy in just one attempt against separate foes.
Armed with twice-to-beat incentives, top-ranked NU takes on Far Eastern U while second-seeded La Salle meets Santo Tomas anew in fiery Final Four duels in UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Hostilities fire off at 2 p.m. featuring the Lady Bulldogs opposite the No. 4 seed but still dangerous Lady Tamaraws followed by the main game between the Lady Spikers and the third-ranked Golden Tigresses at 6 p.m.
In men’s play, four-peat champion NU and No. 1 FEU eye the same goal against Santo Tomas and La Salle at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
It’s the same Final Four as last season but La Salle, with the higher ranking this time, is gunning for a different result to barge into the finals for the third time in the last four seasons.
The Lady Spikers bowed to the Rookie-MVP Bella Belen-led Lady Bulldogs, who completed a 16-0 sweep, in Season 84 before redeeming themselves in Season 85 led by also then Rookie-MVP Angel Canino.
There’s no stopping La Salle from replicating the feat after besting Santo Tomas in the playoff for the No. 2 seed and the last win-once bonus last Wednesday.
