PVL On Tour Finals PLDT vs Chery Tiggo LIVE updates

The stage is set for an epic battle as PLDT and Chery Tiggo clash in the Philippine Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour Finals on Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The High Speed Hitters-Crossovers matchup is set at 6:30 p.m. following the bronze medal match between Creamline and Cignal at 4 p.m.

PLDT’s journey to the Finals was marked by a remarkable victory over Creamline, the league’s 10-time champions, in a thrilling five-set match.

This victory not only secured their spot in the Finals but also provided a significant confidence boost for the High Speed Hitters.

Head coach Rald Ricafort emphasized the importance of maintaining composure and focusing on managing emotions and performance for the upcoming title match.

“We need to manage our emotions. Our objective is to manage what needs to be managed and correct what can be corrected. So, our mindset is still the same; we’ll still work hard in the last game. At least, as I said, it’s the last game,” said Ricafort.

The Hitters boast a formidable lineup with standout performances from players such as Savi Davison, who contributed an impressive 30 points in the match against Creamline, and is supported by talents like Kim Kianna Dy and Jovi Prado.

Chery Tiggo, on the other hand, approaches the Finals with a focus on team effort and unity, rather than relying on individual star power.

Head coach Norman Miguel highlighted the absence of a single superstar on the team, underscoring the collaborative drive of the Crossovers. Key players such as rookie Renee Peñafiel, Cess Robles, Ara Galang and Aby Maraño are expected to lead the charge against PLDT, ready to overcome the challenge and strive for the title.

Ara Galang, instrumental in the victory over Cignal with 15 points, is also motivated by a personal quest for her first-ever league title, aiming to break Chery Tiggo’s four-year title drought since 2021.

“Actually, a lot of people also [inspired me]. Volleyball is my passion. I enjoy playing. I still have the opportunity, so I don’t want to waste it because I can’t play forever. As long as I can, I’ll do my best, I’ll do everything I can to help my team now, at Chery,” Galang said.

The battle for bronze will see Creamline, a team used to Finals appearances, compete against Cignal, adding another layer of excitement as both teams vie for a podium finish.

Following the PVL On Tour’s climax, attention will shift to the PVL Invitationals, scheduled to start on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena.

The opening round of the new conference will feature a rematch between Creamline and Cignal, as well as another face-off between PLDT and Chery Tiggo, promising more thrilling volleyball action for the fans.
