PH Women's Open confirmed for early big 2026 event

As a testament to the resurgence of Philippine tennis led by world number 50 Alex Eala, the Women's Tennis Association has granted the country the right to host an upcoming tournament at the start of 2026.

The WTA announced a Philippine Women's Open happening from Jan. 26-31 at a yet-to-be-announced venue.

Categorized as a WTA 125 event, the Philippine Women's Open will draw 32 female singles tennis players and 16 pairs of doubles competitors.

All eyes are on whether Eala will make an appearance in the event, as the tournament period coincides with the Australian Open.

Now way inside the top 100 women's tennis players, Eala has an assured spot in the main draw of the Grand Slam event.

Should Eala advance deep into the Australian Open, she may have to forgo her spot in the Philippine Women's Open.

With or without the newest tennis superstar, though, the Philippine Women's Open will be a delight for the Filipino tennis fans.
