Gilas Pilipinas FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers LIVE updates

Gilas Pilipinas began its training camp at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna as coach Tim Cone intends to get everyone reacquainted with his system as the national team prepares for window 2 of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers.

Dwight Ramos joined the national team’s second day of practice, which is preparing for its two big showdown against New Zealand (February 26) and Australia (March 1) in a pair of home games at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

The 27-year-old Ramos is coming off a Japan B.League game where his team Hokkaido Levanga suffered a 115-93 loss to the Toyama Grouses last Sunday.

Cone said he expects Fil-Cypriot big man AJ Edu to join the team in Calamba by Wednesday.

The athletic and shot blocking Edu, like the 6-4 Ramos, is also coming off a Japan B.League game where his team Gunma Crane Thunder bowed to the Nagasaki Velca, 72-77 over the weekend.

Filipino forwards Carl Tamayo and Kevin Quiambao will be reporting for duty shortly as they conclude their respective games in the Korean Basketball League.

Justin Brownlee, along with PBA stars June Mar Fajardo, CJ Perez, Chris Newsome, Scottie Thompson, Troy Rosario and RJ Abarrientos, Calvin Oftana, along with Converge rookie Juan Gomez de Liano and new addition Justine Baltazar joined the second day of Gilas practice.
