The Akari Chargers have tapped three-time Olympian Prisilla Rivera as import to fuel their bid in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference starting Oct. 8.
The team announced it on social media recently with the 37-year-old veteran from Dominican Republic expected to bring experience for the rookie squad.
“Bring that explosive energy to the PVL, Prisilla Rivera! Let’s go!” the team posted.
A two-time gold medalist in the Pan American Games, Rivera has played in 19 club teams since 1998 in the Dominican Republic, Spain, Puerto Rico, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Italy, Hungary and Brazil.
Her last stint was with the Jakarta Pertamina Energi this year in Indonesia.
Rivera will join a young squad composed of Jho Maraguinot, Michelle Cobb, Dani Ravena and Trisha Genesis, to name a few.
She will play under Brazilian coach Jorge Souza de Brito.
