The Chery Tiggo Crossovers battered the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers in straight sets, 25-20, 25-13, 25-13, to salvage bronze in the PNVF Champions League at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Saturday.
Coming off a straight-set loss to the Petro Gazz Angels in the semifinals, the Crossovers vented their ire on the Lady Blazers to finish the tournament with a 4-2 win-loss record.
"Syempre masaya rin kahit paano, marami kami natutunan dito bago mag-PVL. Hopefully, ma-polish pa namin ‘yung mga galaw namin at mag-work pa kami as a team," said Chery Tiggo head coach Kungfu Reyes as the Crossovers set their sights on the All-Filipino Conference.
Chery Tiggo dictated the tempo right from the get-go, asserting dominance on all fronts to secure the first two sets.
The Crossovers then drove their momentum in the decisive third frame, where Aby Maraño carried the scoring cudgels for a commanding 15-8 edge.
Chery Tiggo went on cruise control from that point onward en route to the bronze-clinching win.
Mylene Paat made her presence felt above the net with three blocks in a game-high 11-point outing. Ara Galang and Maraño backstopped Paat with 10 markers apiece as the latter scattered six attacks, two blocks and two aces.
On the other hand, Saint Benilde, the lone collegiate squad in the five-team field, ended its stint with a 1-5 slate.
The Lady Blazers struggled to get going as no one from their side scored in double figures. Gayle Pascual led CSB with seven points while Jessa Dorog chipped in six markers in a lost cause.
