Alyssa Valdez back to the grind as she looks to recover from knee injury

The woman they call The GOAT has started her road to recovery.

Alyssa Valdez posted on Instagram a video of what appears to be the initial stages of knee rehabilitation: stretching and working on range of motion.

In her story, Valdez is seen trying to gingerly bend her injured right knee, her face showing both obvious discomfort and palpable determination.

The 29-year-old Creamline standout injured her knee in the Cool Smashers’ bronze-clinching win against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in early December. The injury was severe enough that she has had to wear a cast afterward.

Despite getting hurt on the court, the former PVL MVP has done some Queen things over the holiday break, going on a much-deserved year-end getaway, giving Pinoy fans in New York a special treat with the Snack Friends, and composing a heartwarming appreciation post for good friend Michele Gumabao — whom she said has become a rock for her in their trip.

Valdez, Gumabao, and Ella De Jesus have mostly chronicled their adventures on their social media pages. And in some of those photos and videos, Valdez was seen wearing a knee brace.

The road to recovery has just started for the woman whom many consider as the GOAT of Philippine volleyball.
