The PLDT High Speed Hitters opened the new year with a huge change, announcing that they have parted ways with head coach George Pascua after just one season.
“We would like to thank Coach George Pascua for all that he has done for the team,” PLDT said in a Facebook post on Monday.
“He built a program that helped the players strengthen their teamwork and gameplay, as they faced their battles on the court during the three conferences that Coach George was on board.”
Pascua took over the coaching reins last January 2022, replacing another seasoned tactician in Roger Gorayeb at the helm.
With Pascua calling the shots, PLDT wound up fifth in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference after falling short in the quarterfinals match against Choco Mucho. They then had a surprise semifinals run in the Invitational Conference behind the towering duo of Mika Reyes and Dell Palomata.
In the season-ending Reinforced Conference, though, PLDT finished at sixth spot with a 3-5 win-loss slate.
“We wish him well as he moves on to new endeavors.Mabuhay ka at padayon, Coach!”
The team has yet to name its new head coach as of writing.
